Development of High Entropy Super Alloys for high-temperature strength and wear resistance
AIMEN leads the creation of the of High Entropy alloys within ACHIEF project. Since July 2021, AIMEN together with CEA, VTT, CONSTELLIUM, ArcelorMittal and Seamthesis have been actively working on the design by using machine learning techniques in order to develop HESA powders to be deposited using different laser techniques as Powder Bed Fusion, Directed Energy Deposition and Laser Cladding.
To compare the efficiency of the machine learning tools with the traditional procedure for designing and selecting materials, a HESA from the literature has been selected for benchmarking purposes. This HESA has been already atomised by VTT and has been deposited at the AIMEN facilities using DED-LB (Directed Energy Deposition Laser Based-) process and at CEA using PBF (Powder Bed Fusion) process. This will help to evaluate the quality and the performance of this material from the point of view of its manufacturability and properties.
